Morning: Why Truth and Reconciliation?  Workshop Code – AM 02

This workshop explains the reasons for the Truth and Reconciliation process in the Church and in Canada as a whole. Topics discussed will include the history of relations between indigenous peoples and colonizers in Canada, the role of the Church in these relations, and residential schools.


Afternoon: How Can We Live Truth and Reconciliation Today? Workshop Code – PM 02

With the sharing of stories through the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, all Canadians have a chance to grow and share in the healing process. This workshop will discuss how indigenous and non-indigenous Canadians can work together for healing and forgiveness.


The Reverend Chris Harper is the Indigenous Native priest of the Diocese of Toronto. A Plains Cree man, lifelong Anglican, and the son of a residential school survivor, Reverend Harper helps parishes understand the needs of Indigenous ministry, especially in terms of implementing the 94 Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
